Bottom Shops Carpark, Aireys Inlet

Infrastructure reviews undertaken at the Aireys Inlet Bottom Shops carpark by the Surf Coast Shire identified that in order to reduce traffic congestion during peak times and improve vehicle safety within the area, the creation of additional vehicle parking bays was required.

Heil Engineering Consultants was appointed to undertake the conceptual and detailed design of the proposed carparking upgrade works to increase the parking capacity within the existing carpark. The works include the following;

  • Site level and feature surveys including service investigations as required. Liaison with service authorities regarding impact or potential service upgrades required as part of the proposed works.
  • Arrange and liaison with Geotechnical Engineers in obtaining geotechnical site investigations related to pavement designs.
  • Conceptual and detailed design of proposed carparking upgrade works Austroads guidelines and in accordance with relevant regulatory authority specifications.
  • Undertake vehicle turning movement investigations using Autoturn software.
  • Liaison with the responsible roads authority and local councils to obtain in principle endorsement.
  • Preparation of Schedule of Quantities and Construction Cost Estimates for funding and tendering purposes.

Long Vehicle Parking Bay & Pedestrian Crossing, Anglesea

Infrastructure reviews undertaken at the Anglesea shopping centre carpark by the Surf Coast Shire identified that in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve pedestrian and vehicle safety within the area, the creation of long vehicle parking bays and upgrade of pedestrian crossings was required.

Heil Engineering Consultants was appointed to undertake the conceptual and detailed design of the proposed indented long vehicle parking bays and pedestrian crossing infrastructure on the Great Ocean Road. The works include the following;

  • Site level and feature surveys including service investigations as required. Liaison with service authorities regarding impact or potential service upgrades required as part of the proposed works.
  • Conceptual and detailed design of proposed long vehicle parking bays and related roadside infrastructure to Austroads and DDA requirements and in accordance with relevant regulatory authority specifications.
  • Undertake vehicle turning movement investigations using Autoturn software.
  • Liaison with the responsible roads authority and local councils to obtain in principle endorsement.
  • Preparation of Schedule of Quantities and Construction Cost Estimates for funding and tendering purposes.

Cape Otway Road Upgrade

Cape Otway Road is located off the Princess Highway South West of Geelong. It runs from through the growing township of Moriac in the east to Birregurra in the west. It has increasing traffic volumes with medium proportion of commercial vehicles using the route as an alternative access to Lorne, Winchelsea and surrounding farmland areas.

As determined within a traffic impact assessment, approximately 5km of Cape Otway Road required widening to provide safe travel and cater for the current and expected increase in traffic volumes in the near future.

Heil Engineering Consultants was appointed to undertake the conceptual and detailed design of the proposed road widening for Cape Otway Road between the townships of Moriac & Modewarre. The works included the following;

• Site level and feature surveys including service investigations as required. Liaison with service authorities regarding impact or potential service upgrades required as part of the proposed works.

• Conceptual and detailed design of the proposed road widening to Austroads and VicRoads requirements and in accordance with relevant regulatory authority specifications.

• Liaison with the responsible authorities and Surf Coast Shire to obtain in principle endorsement.

• Liaison with Geotechnical Engineers in regards to pavement design.

• Preparation of Schedule of Quantities and Construction Cost Estimates for funding and tendering purposes.

Roundabout Upgrade, Horseshoe Bend Rd, Torquay

Horseshoe bend road is located to the east of Torquay and runs parallel with the Surf Coast Highway from Surf Coast Shire boundary Lower Mount Duneed Road to The Esplanade. Horseshoe bend road is a key connector road within Torquay which has seen an increase in volume of traffic with the current residential development in the area and is used by locals as an alternative access to Geelong and the Bellarine area. South Beach Road is deemed as a major link between Surf Coast highway and Horseshoe bend road on the outskirts of Torquay North and is used by commuters to Geelong and Melbourne.

 

Due to the rapid increased resident and commercial development in the Torquay growth area it was anticipated that traffic volumes in this location will grow greatly in the near future. As such Surf Coast Shire facilitated upgrading the existing intersection of Horseshoe bend road and South Beach Road to a roundabout providing an adequate central island and traffic lanes on all approaches and departures to accommodate future traffic volumes.

 

Heil Engineering Consultants was appointed to undertake the Feature Survey, Conceptual and Detailed Design of the proposed intersection upgrade. The works included the following;

• Site level and feature surveys including service investigations as required. Liaison with service authorities regarding impact or potential service upgrades required as part of the proposed works.

• Co-ordination of other specialist consulting disciplines to complete service locations, lighting design, geotechnical testing, pavement design and traffic impact assessments.

• Conceptual and detailed design of the proposed roundabout including all drainage infrastructures to Austroads and VicRoads requirements and in accordance with relevant regulatory authority specifications.

• Liaison with the responsible authorities and Surf Coast Shire to obtain in principle endorsement.

Forest & Grays Rd, Paraparap

HEC was appointed to undertake the conceptual and detailed design of the proposed road

widening for Forest Road and Grays Road consisting of 4km of road reconstruction.

As determined within the traffic impact assessment and as a result Blackspot funding programs

designed to enhance the safety of existing rural roads, approximately 4km of Forest and Grays

Road required widening to provide safe travel and cater for the current and expected increase in

traffic volumes in the near future. The works included the following:

• Site level and feature surveys including service investigations as required. Liaison with

service authorities regarding impact or potential service upgrades required as part of the

proposed works.

• Conceptual and detailed design of the proposed road widening to Austroads and VicRoads requirements and in accordance with relevant regulatory authority specifications.

• Liaison with the responsible authorities and Surf Coast Shire to obtain in principle endorsement.

• Liaison with Geotechnical Engineers in regards to pavement design.

• Preparation of Schedule of Quantities and Construction Cost Estimates for funding and tendering purposes.
